Seth Kassels

Seth returned to Belknap in 2013, along with his wife, Steph, and two sons, Noah and Tobin. For 12 years, the Kassels served together as Co-Directors, the sixth Directors in the history of Belknap, carrying on the tradition of family leadership. In 2025, Seth and Steph made the decision to create a better balance for their work and family lives, and Steph transitioned into the role of Director of Health & Wellness, allowing Seth the opportunity to continue to serve as the Director of Camp Belknap.

Originally hailing from Amherst, Massachusetts, Seth began his Belknap career as a Middler in 1992. He was an Honor Camper and was awarded the Colin Brown Award as a member of the Leader Corps. He advanced through the Belknap leadership system, serving as the Middler Division Head in 1999 and concluding as Program Director in 2005.

Prior to his start as Director in 2013, Seth received his Master of Engineering degree from the University of Colorado and held several entrepreneurial and management positions in the field of renewable energy, including serving as a co-founder and VP of a utility solar energy company. He also enjoyed volunteering with international nonprofit groups that help provide power to remote areas in Central and South America.

Seth’s undergraduate degree is from Colorado College, and he very much lives the block plan motto of work hard, play hard. And he loves to give back to his community. He serves on several nonprofit boards and enjoys his time volunteering as a ski coach at the local rope tow ski area in Wolfeboro.

On a personal note, Seth is always on the go. He enjoys mountain biking and skiing with his boys, going for a run with the family dog Rio, swimming to Farm Island with a leader in the summer, and pretty much any activity that keeps him outside and active! One of his favorite activities is participating in the tether ball tournament in Cadets. Belknap is a family affair for the Kassels and you will often find Seth’s family members visiting camp in the summer to enjoy vespers and dinner with the family.
